DailyPay: what it costs and what the record shows

DailyPay works through participating employers and lets workers transfer part of the pay they have already earned before payday; the transferred amount and any fees are deducted from the paycheck. Next-business-day transfers are free, while instant transfers carry a per-transfer fee that varies by employer.

Checked against the company’s published terms and official records on 2026-10-18.

Not calculated

DailyPay does not publish every fee we would need to price a $100 advance, so we don’t show an APR. What it does publish is below.

Whether an app is “legit” comes down to facts you can check: who runs it, what it charges, whether it is licensed or registered where a state requires it, and what regulators and courts have said about it. Those facts for DailyPay are below, each with its source. Offered through your employer, which shares your hours and pay with the provider; the advance comes out of your paycheck.

Late fees or interestNo interest or late fees described. How DailyPay works

  1. Confirm your employer offers DailyPay, then sign up in the app or on the website.
  2. Verify your identity using work information (phone, email, employee ID or bank details).
  3. Link a bank account (and optionally a debit card).
  4. See your available earnings update as your employer reports completed shifts.
  5. Transfer some earnings: next business day (free) or instant (fee varies by employer).
  6. On payday, transfers and fees are deducted and the rest of your pay is deposited.

Steps summarized from DailyPay Help: How does DailyPay work?6.

Who can get it

Your employer must participate in DailyPay. You sign up with a personal email, DailyPay locates your employer and verifies you with work details. You must link at least one bank account (Primary Bank Account) and may link a debit card. No credit report, credit score or underwriting is used.4

How it is paid back

After your first transfer, DailyPay sets itself as the direct deposit account of record with your employer. On payday your employer sends the paycheck to DailyPay, which deducts transfers and fees made during the pay period and sends the rest to your Primary Bank Account.5
